Quality vs quantity

One of the greatest gifts a team leader could hope for is engaged team members. Leadership is all about inspiring and helping people to accomplish great things. This is virtually impossible if the people you lead are disengaged.

When you think about growing your team - do you focus on the number of people on your team, or the caliber of the team members?

You want more than people who are taking a spot on the bus. You want people who could step up and drive the bus!

You are not looking for people who simply have a pulse. You want people who have their finger on the pulse of what is happening.

When you lead a volunteer team, you always hope and pray for more volunteers. But before you focus on the quantity of the people on your team, take a look at the quality of the volunteers that make up your team. A quality group of engaged volunteers will elevate the quality of every new team member.

Investing in the quality of your volunteers will produce a team environment that is attractive to people outside of your team.
